RemSoc

The society for remediation practitioners in the UK

About RemSoc

RemSoc is the only UK society dedicated to the remediation of contaminated and brownfield land.

The society has been established by a group of professionals and practitioners, all working in the remediation sector. ·This group consists of consultants and contractors who have a broad knowledge and significant experience of the industry, the market and clients that we are serving.

RemSoc is independent of other professional organisations, bodies and industry groups but aims to collaborate with other like minded groups as opportunities present themselves.  Membership is not exclusive and is open to all those directly involved in remediation activities who share our values. The idea has been proposed many times but after a discussion around best practice, safety, standards and development of early career professionals, the current committee rallied to get the project off the ground.  Interests are represented within the organising committee from contracting, consulting, equipment supply and clients in order to establish a well balanced and non biased society.

Why the Need for RemSoc?

As our industry matures, we believe that in many instances remediation activities continue to be implemented often with little reference to industry best practice, both in relation to technical standards and from a health and safety perspective.  We see RemSoc as an opportunity to promote the safe and technically sound implementation of remediation techniques and technologies and provide a knowledge sharing platform amongst professionals and practitioners with a focus on the development of early career professionals.

Our Objectives

To promote good practice in remediation…..
in essence….. to do remediation right…..

Our Constitution

The RemSoc Constitution sets out the objectives of the society, its code of conduct, its structure and general operating principles.  It will be updated from time to time as required by the Society and the latest version is available here.
